Born from a personal awakening
This book was written during a period of false incarceration, in an atmosphere of extreme distress and isolation. Stripped of access to communication, dignity and basic necessities. I witnessed firsthand the horrific human suffering unfolding inside our legal facilities. It served as a wakeup call to my complacency: the people sitting in county jails have not been found guilty of a crime. Apparently, you go straight to prison if you are found guilty. This collection of lived stories and reflections was written to break the silence and reveal the truth that funds our collective silence.
Empowering youth and ending homelessness
The greater ambition behind my work is to create systemic pathways out of oppression. Proceeds from my writing directly supports educational opportunities, transitional housing, and financial stability for incarcerated and at-risk youth. Through my non-profit initiatives, learn more at skyrealities.com, we strive to end homelessness by providing individuals with the essential tools and rehabilitation. Our goal is to build lasting stability.
